Pasta Fritta, or Italian donuts, are delicious. This is a simple recipe and the when dipped in honey, or chocolate they are the best. Sprinkle with powdered sugar also.
Ingredients
- 4 cups gold medal flour
- ½ tsp. morton iodized salt
- 1 pkg. red star active dry yeast
- 2 cups warm water
- C&H pure cane confectioners powdered sugar
Directions
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Mix flour and salt in bowl. Add yeast and additional warm water, as needed. Work dough until sticky and loose. Cover. Let rise until double in bulk.
Preheat oil to 350.
Coat hands with vegetable oil and pull about a tablespoon of dough and stretch until 3-4 inches long. Gently drop into hot oil and fry until golden brown. When cool sprinkle with sugar or dip in honey.
