This apple brown sugar oats recipe has been a life saver for me. I love sweets and could not digest plain rolled oats, yuck! I spiced the oats up with a bit of apple sauce, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Enjoy!
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup apple sauce
- 1 Tbsp brown sugar
- pinch of cinnamon
This is a super easy healthy breakfast to make.
In a large bowl, place 1/2 cup rolled oats and 1 cup water. Cook on high for 2 minutes, then stir and cook for another 30 seconds. Next, let the oats sit for 1 minute. While the oats are finishing cooking place the apple sauce, brown sugar, and cinnamon into a microwave safe bowl and combine. Take the oats out of the microwave and put the apple sauce in and cook on high for 30 seconds. When done mix the oats and apple sauce together and enjoy!
More about Apple Brown Oats
Brown sugar is manufactured by adding molasses to completely refined white sugar crystals. Unlike refined, unrefined brown sugar can be washed to reveal crystals that are off-white due to the inclusion of molasses. In the late 1800’s, sugar producers became nervous over the production of brown sugar and mounted a smear campaign. This campaign was so successful that it lasted until the 1900’s.
