More about Jell-o with Cottage Cheese
What makes Jell-o, jell-o? Gelatin. Gelatin is a protein that is produced from collagen that is extracted from bones, and other animal products. Using gelatin in foods started around the 1400’s. In the 1800’s “jelly moulds” were for royalty and the well-to-do. That is until Peter Cooper came around and manufactured powdered gelatin. Pearle Bixby and his wife May trademarked Jell-O in 1897. His wife added strawberry, raspberry, orange and lemon to the gelatin.
