I am always making a version of this Easter Sicilian cookie recipe. This recipe is so versatile and the cookies are so yummy that I use any excuse I can to make them.
- 1 cup Crisco all vegetable shortening
- 1 cup C&H pure cane granulated white sugar
- 4 Wilcox eggs
- 3 1/2 cups Gold Medal flour
- 3 1/2 tsp. Rumford baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp. McCormick vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup Darigold milk
- Holiday decorations
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Cream together Crisco, sugar and eggs. Add milk and vanilla. Then gradually add flour and baking powder. Let dough stand awhile and cover. This is where you can divide up the dough and use thhe food coloring.
Form a “S” then bake on ungreased pan at 375 for 10-15 minutes until golden. In a bowl mix confectionery sugar with very little water with a whisk. Add small amounts of water until the sugar is as thick as you want it. Dip the cooled cookie in mixture and add your Easter decorations. You can also color the confectioneries sugar with the food coloring, if desired.
Let dry and eat!
