This Christmas Sicilian vanilla cookie recipe is delicious. This is the first recipe that I learned from the cookbook my mother-in-law, and her sister gave me. These cookies are decorated for Christmas and make a wonderful addition to the Christmas dessert table.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Crisco all vegetable shortening
- 1 cup C&H pure cane granulated white sugar
- 4 Wilcox eggs
- 3 1/2 cups Gold Medal flour
- 3 1/2 tsp. Rumford baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp. McCormick vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup Darigold milk
- Holiday decorations
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Cream together Crisco, sugar and eggs. Add milk and vanilla. Then gradually add flour and baking powder. Let dough stand awhile and cover. Form a “S” then bake on ungreased pan at 375 for 10-15 minutes until golden. In a bowl mix confectionery sugar with very little water with a whisk. Add small amounts of water until the sugar is as thick as you want it. Dip the cooled cookie in mixture and add your Christmas. Let dry and eat!
